Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri on his death anniversary, He is one of the Indian Politicians who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of India for the period between 1964 to 1966. He was also the 6th Home Minister of India from 1961 to 1963.

Born on October 2 1904. He was a man with high trustworthiness, skill, and a practical and humble nature who worked for over 30 years for the country.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was famous for his slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” which means ‘Hail, the soldier, Hail the farmers.’

However, Lal Bahadur Shastri died on January 11 1966, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He died just after the day he signed a peace treaty with Pakistan to end the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War.

This day is marked as Lal Bahadur Shastri death anniversary. He died just after the day he signed the agreement with the President of Pakistan, Ayub Khan.

His death remains a mystery for everyone. They reported the cause of death as cardiac arrest. However, his family members claimed that he was poisoned.

History of Lal Bahadur Shastri

Lal Bahadur Shastri came to earth on October 2 1904. He was born in Mughalsarai. His father, Sharada Prasad Srivastava, was a school teacher but later became a clerk at the revenue office in Allahabad.

He died early when Lal Bahadur was only a year and a half old. His mother, Ramadulari Devi, took her three children and went to live at her father’s house and settled over there.

His birth anniversary date was coincidently similar to that of Mahatma Gandhi.

He completed his high school at Harish Chandra High school. Started his inter-college from East Central Railway but had to leave his college in the middle to join the non-cooperation movement.

He was only sixteen when Gandhiji called upon the countrymen to join the non-cooperation movement. Lal Bahadur Shastri decided to drop his studies and join Gandhi Ji in his movement. His decision shattered his mother’s hopes and dreams.

He got married to Lalita Devi on May 16, 1928.
